Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American British musician and sitarist. She was the first and first female to win a British House of Commons Shield she's received Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian of Indian descent to perform live and to be a presenter for the awards ceremony. Anoushka is a new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982, and spent her early years shuttling back and forth between London in London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. Then she moved in Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha was only an teen, has enjoyed an impressive recording and performing career. She often joins her father during performances, something she has been doing for quite a few years. Her debut self-titled album Anourag in the year 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is broad as she's appeared in all of the world's major venues. Anoushka isn't only a singer. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka's career is still developing and she will continue to achieve great success in the coming years. Anoushka is a native of England, but spent most of her youth between London in the UK and Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in high school. at the age of nine, she started studying the piano with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar took place in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi in the year following. As a part of her dad's band as his world tour, Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of performances on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as performing alongside George Harrison. The House of Commons Shield was given to her by the British Parliament as the most renowned Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and is the smallest recipient of this prize.
